Conference on investigative journalism

The Ferret, an innovative investigative media project launched in Scotland last year, is collaborating with the University of Strathclyde to run its first ever conference on investigative journalism on Saturday April 23 in Glasgow.

The conference is essential for anyone who wants to find out more about how good public interest stories are made, how power can be held to account and what can be done to build a better media in the future.
The conference will cover Freedom of Information, press regulation and press freedom, the role of journalists and film-makers in creating change, and much more!
Speakers include environmental journalism expert Rob Edwards who is Ferret chair; Nicole Kleeman of Firecrest Films, which produces documentaries for BBC’s Panorama and Channel 4’s Dispatches; longstanding Scottish journalist and editor Kevin McKenna; director of new independent press regulator IMPRESS Jonathan Heawood; and defamation law campaigner for Scottish PEN Nik Williams.
Event proceeds will go towards funding a mini Ferret investigation, and delegates will vote on the day to decide what to look at.
