16 November 2015 meeting

At our next meeting we’ll be confirming the branch’s motions for the next Delegate Meeting which I hope to circulate in advance. We will also accept nominations for anyone who wants to stand for a DM-elected body. These are:

Michelle Stanistreet, the general secretary, points out that “successive NUJ Delegate Meetings have agreed that more needs to be done to properly reflect the diversity of membership, to persuade more women members to take up seats on the National Executive Council, industrial councils and DM committees. Current figures show that some industrial councils and committees have less than 20% women’s membership, for example. Under-representation also applies to young people and black minority ethnic (BME) groups. We therefore ask branches to encourage members from under-represented groups to get involved.”
