The NUJ’s chapel at The Scotsman Publications is to ballot for strike action after Johnston Press announced it is seeking further redundancies across the titles.
The publisher is to cut 12 of the 32 production staff that are already stretched producing the Scotsman, Scotland on Sunday, the Edinburgh Evening News, a number of magazines and two weekly newspapers.
The move follows previous job cuts at the newspaper group, including the loss of 75 editorial staff in 2013 and 2014.
Breaking news from All Media Scotland: two editors are to step down at Newsquest’s Glasgow-based Herald and Times group. “Tony Carlin, editor of the Evening Times, and Richard Walker, editor of the Sunday Herald and The National, have decided to step down, although Richard will become consultant editor of The National.”
